Arthur Mutuku Mulwa

Arthur is a finance professional with a background in Commodity Trading, Business Analysis and Risk Management. Through his career, he has been through several defining projects including:

•            Rollout of the Credit Suisse Commodity Business in London:

As a Junior Business Analyst, Arthur was entrusted with the responsibility of leading the effort to set up a trading desk for the Commodity Business in London. He worked to ensure that the right systems were in place for the businesses, correct configuration of these systems, and seamless integration into the existing infrastructure in the overall Credit Suisse London business

•            Building of the Credit Suisse Bulk Commodity Trading Business:

Starting as a Junior Trader, Arthur was involved in set up of the Iron Ore and Shipping derivatives business. His work included helping set up pricing systems, participating in strategy for growing parts of the business, taking ownership of the Steel Business and converting it into a profit center.

•            Setting up the Risk Framework for the Nairobi Securities Exchange:

Arthur was brought on board to the Exchange to set up the risk framework for the derivatives business. His work included setting up the different policies that would govern the business, analysing the data to produce measurable risk attributes, educating the Exchange Members on the new derivative products and how to manage risks emanating from the derivatives products.

•            Derivatives Training Curriculum for the Africa Risk Institute

Arthur joined ARI as a consultant to help set up the curriculum for derivatives training, and to facilitate training of students and professionals seeking certification in derivatives from institutions such as CISI

•            Building a Logistics Business

Arthur built up a logistics business – Armu Logistics, which is a firm that seeks to bring efficiency within the Agricultural and Mining sectors in Kenya. Alongside this effort, he also put together value added services such as Insurance and Financing that haven’t fully penetrated these industries within Kenya. Drawing from his experience as a Commodity Trader and Risk Manager, he is putting together a platform that will enable all these services to coexist in a single platform and drive the efficiency he is seeking.
