Matthew Naiden

I am currently a part-time field geophysicist (~24 hrs/week, variable) who has gained broad experience from over 10 years working as an independent consultant for small to large institutions who is looking to freelance as much as possible with the remaining time in my schedule (days off, evening & weekends). Throughout most of my career as an independent consultant, in addition to providing geophysical services, I have been required to learn and fulfill many administrative tasks simply due to that fact that there were no other employees to manage those roles.

Skills I have become proficient in:

-Microsoft Office/Google Docs - As a consultant, gained proficiency in preparing presentation/marketing materials (PowerPoint), creating large spreadsheets utilizing macros to analyze and track data (Excel), written/prepared project reports (Word) and created and managed databases (Access).

-Data Entry - Extensive data entry experience entering technical project specifications, geolocation information, budgeting/costs, database creation using Microsoft Access, proofreading/editing (I have a very strong attention to detail for grammar, spelling, accuracy and formatting).

-Data mining/online lead generation/internet research/data-scraping - Successfully performed research involving products, competitors, potential leads, as well as many other criteria. Throughout my career, I have often needed to track down cheap or usually free data to keep costs down, which has required me to hone my skills in these areas. I know how to search web-page source for information, perform efficient internet searches and quickly identify and track relevant information.

Computer Issue Troubleshooting/File Conversion - I have been required to perform all IT related duties for my independent consultancy. Additionally, for clients and friends/family, I have extensive experience (remotely or physically) creating media servers, removing viruses, maintaining systems, troubleshooting software issues (experience with many, many different software suites and can learn new software very quickly) and networking for both PCs and Macs. Much of the data I have worked with is sourced internationally and in different formats than the client's systems, requiring me to convert many different file types from one type to another.

ArcGIS Map Creation/Java & C# coding - I have created many maps for presentations using ArcGIS and know how to operate the software comfortably - including the use of VBA scripting to automate processes. I have also been required to generate online/standalone versions of the maps requiring basic knowledge of both Java & C#.

Cryptocurrency enthusiast - I have been following the development of cryptocurrency (Bitcoin and alt-coins) since 2016 rigorously and have very significant knowledge of many different coins by way of research (whitepapers, forums and conversation) and trading.
