Internship Coordinator Duties
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF CLINICAL SUPERVISORS
Clinical/Training Supervisors are responsible for facilitating the MSMU Internship Program through the following:
ORIENTATION
a. Conduct a complete and detailed orientation for all interns who will be rotated in the MSMU to properly introduce them with the Internship Program
b. Introduce all interns to Officers and Staff of Moro Lorenzo Sports Center
c. Tour the interns inside the Moro Lorenzo Sports Center to familiarize them with the location of the facilities they will be using in treating their patients
d. Teach and demonstrate proper use of MSMU equipments and machines
e. Teach and demonstrate proper execution, instructional and correction techniques of the basic and common exercises they will be teaching their patients.
f. Endorse the interns to Sports Performance Unit Coaches for their orientation of gym equipments and exercises
g. Assign Senior Trainee, Gym Person and Patients to the interns covering their two months rotation in the clinic.
h. Assign interns to two clinic Shifts and duties of each shift for before and after care of the clinic
h. Inform the interns of current policies and procedures of the MSMU
SCHOOL AFFILIATION
a. Communicate and coordinate with the schools to prepare and renew Memorandum of Agreements between them and Blue Eagle Management Inc.
b. Annually evaluate each school's performance for renewal of contracts based on interns performance & schools' compliance of the contracts signed.
c. Inform Schools' Internship Coordinators regarding schedule of Interns' Orientation, Holidays and cancellation of clinic duties
d. Report to the Schools' Internship Coordinators regarding any untoward incident involving their interns.
e. Give timely feedback to the Visiting Internship Coordinators regarding their interns' performance in the clinic.
f. Attend the respective schools' Clinical Supervisors' Meetings to be updated of their calendar of activities and communicate any concerns regarding the internship program.
g. Search and screen potential schools for future affiliation.
FEEDBACK
a. Gives a regular feedback to the interns regarding their performance in the clinic
b. Conducts a timely small discussion with the interns to address their concerns regarding clinic protocols.
c. Reports to the Head Physical Therapist regarding the performance, schedule and concerns of the interns.
d. Gives final feedback to each intern at the end of the rotation pertaining to their performance within the two months rotation
e. Asks final feedback and evaluation from each intern involving each clinical staff, performance coaches & front desk secretaries
f. Asks final feedback and evaluation from each intern regarding the MSMU and the Internship Program
g. Submit interns' grades 10days after the rotation.
INTERNS' ACTIVITIES
Schedule the following MSMU Internship Program Activities based on the availability of the Clinic, Staff Physiotherapists and the Interns:
a. Lectures regarding specific conditions and taping techniques are conducted by the Staff Physiotherapists. Lectures regarding specific conditions will focus on proper assessment and treatment planning.
b.Post Evaluation Examination is given on the last week of the rotation after all of the lecture topics were covered.This is a two hours written evaluation focusing on clinical reasoning, assessment & treatment planning.
c. Last PT and endorsement notes are submitted by the interns at least three days before the rotation ends.
d. Final feedback and evaluation of the MSMU, Staff Physiotherapists, Performance Coaches &Front Desk Secretaries at least one week before the end of the rotation.
e. Final feedback is given to individual interns on the last day of the rotation.
REQUIREMENTS
Make sure all interns and their respective schools have complied with all of the set requirements signed in the MOA
a. Check if all interns/ schools have settled affiliation fees paid to Blue Eagle Management Inc.,
b. Check if all interns have completed all necessary patient records by the end of the rotation.
c. Check if all interns have completed all deficiencies and make up duties by the end of the school year/ before signing their clearance.
d. Check if all interns have completed & signed their DTR forms & copies of merits/demerits as their personal and school's copy.
e. Check if all schools have sent endorsement letters before the start of each rotation.
MENTORSHIP
The Clinical Supervisor is also active and hands on in providing different learning opportunities for the interns
a. Ensure each intern has enough patient load, and a wide variety of cases handled during the rotation
b. Directly supervise, give feedback and helpful techniques to interns handling patients under his/her care.
c. Provide lecture to interns regarding specific conditions focusing on clinical reasoning, assessment and treatment planning
d. Provide post eval examination for all interns at the end of the rotation
e. Encourage Staff Physiotherapists to give feedback and provide helpful tips to interns handling their patients.
