Article Writing Sample 2
Hello, hello, hello, my curlies. Before I write more articles and product
reviews on this blog, I think it would be helpful to give you my “stats”, so
to speak. Every football player has stats, which vary based on his or her
competence in various skills. No two players are the same and some
excel more in some skills than others. All natural-haired beauties are
like football players. No two heads of hair are alike and we have
different curl patterns, different porosity levels, and the list goes on. I
now present to you my stats, so that you can compare and contrast my
hair with yours and see how my hair responds to certain things versus
how yours would.
Like I said in my previous post, I have a combination of 4a/4b hair with
a little patch of 3c in the back. I’m not sure about my porosity levels, but
I think I might have medium porosity hair. The rate at which my hair
absorbs products really depends on the product. Also, my strands don’t
seem to be as thick as I used to think they were. When I make a part in
my hair, it’s like parting the Red Sea. My scalp is so clearly visible, which
leads me to believe that my hair is not very dense.
The hair in the crown of my head, which is the most difficult area to deal
with, is very fine and fragile, tends to knot up terribly and breaks the
most easily out of all the sections of my hair. An important characteristic
of my hair is….. IT HATES OIL. Seriously. The only oils it can tolerate
are argan oil and, sometimes, avocado oil, but oils like jojoba oil are just
terrible, and hot oil treatments are not normally a fun experience for
me.
It really takes a special kind of product to work well with my hair and I
am yet to find that mind-blowing, earth-shattering, life-changing
product. I do have a set of products that I can fall back on when all else
fails, but I want to find my holy grail products and add them to my
arsenal; those products that will give me moisture, decrease breakage
and provide slip, shine, frizz control and curl definition all in one. And a
great smell would be a nice added touch. Does a product like this exist?
An all-in-one superstar that knocks my socks off? (Who am I kidding,
Jamaica is way too hot for socks.) We’ll have to wait and see. Let the
search begin!
