Computer Operators are responsible for running computer operations as well as ensuring that computer systems and hardware are in good working order. Their tasks include maintaining work order schedules, inputting commands into computer terminals, performing routine maintenance and installing software updates along with a myriad of other tasks. Computer Operators work in many different industries and organizations, including healthcare, government agencies and more. They typically work from a server room or data center.

No formal education is required of Computer Operators, but many individuals in this role possess associate's degrees or certificates in fields like Information Systems. The most important qualities for Computer Operators are a strong understanding of computer systems, the ability to follow directions, and excellent analytical thinking and problem solving skills
