Aidan Dean

I attained my BA in Creative Brand Communications, specialising in Copywriting, from Vega School of Brand Leadership. 

While studying, I worked as an SEO Copywriter for Food Blog Cape Town where I wrote SEO content for 15 articles per week.

At Vega, I was given the opportunity to work with “real-world” briefs through the university’s Brand Challenge. This allowed students to gain an understanding of working in teams with various specialisations by working with real clients and real briefs.

At the end of my university career, I interned at King James Group in Cape Town. This advertising agency put a system in place for interns to move around the agency and get a feel for different aspects of their specialisation, eventually choosing which one they preferred and staying there for the remainder of the internship. It was a great start to my journey in the career world.

I currently work for two companies. The first being Picup Technologies. As their Creative Strategist, I am in charge of all creative communication aspects of the brand. This includes writing articles, SEO content, UX, social media and more. I am also required to create the brand’s graphics in terms of illustrations and motion graphics and do any photography which may be needed.

While working for Picup, they asked if I could assist with another company – Social Media Now – as an in-house freelancer. This is the second company I currently work for. At Social Media Now, I write articles for a number of clients as well as create graphics and motion graphics when needed, going in to their offices 2 days per week.

Through my studies and experience, I have gained a wide range of skills which I can utilise to get the best results out of a brief. Whether it be writing in a variety of voices and tones, creating a graphic or motion graphic, or editing audio and video footage, I have the ability to work with it all and produce excellent results.
