Alberto Elias

I love learning, currently focused on VR and decentralized technologies. I’ve started numerous side-projects and launched 2 startups.

The first startup was Holalabs, where we built the first distributed desktop, holadesk; and a mobile development library, holaIO. I developed the Android platform, the server side and contributed to the frontend.

I'm currently working on Simbol where I'm building an identity system that is VR-first so people could seamlessly move around 3D worlds and control their data.

I use my Web development expertise for client work, demonstrating proficiency in JavaScript, Node.JS, CSS, HTML, WebVR/WebXR and decentralized technologies like IPFS, Dat or Ethereum.

I worked at the Financial Times for over 2 years where I was promoted to Senior Developer. I worked on the Origami team where we built a UI component system and developer tools for all the different FT products making it easier to build and upgrade these products, and also to unify the brand.

I was part of a Young Advisors group to the Vice-President of the European Commission focusing on the legislation around major computing trends and looking into what different legislative bodies could do to promote coding and entrepreneuship.

Founded and organized GDG Murcia (Google Developer Group). We did around 20 events, including: hackathons, bootcamps with Startup Weekend and a Devfest. We were the biggest developer group in the region with hundreds of total attendees.

I grew up in England, so I’m bilingual (Spanish & English)

Given talks about Android, Web development and entrepreneurship at various meetups and events including McFred, London Web Components Meetup and Decentralized Web Summit.

Participated and won some hackathons (BYND 2015, Campus Party London 2013).
