In 2009 I graduated the master from The Faculty of Geology and Geophysics. My graduation work paper was entitled: “The Impact of Waste Deposits Upon The Surrounding Aquifers – case study Vidra waste deposit".  I have a bachelor’s degree in Geography, my ground expertise is in Environmental Protection. I graduated the Geography Faculty in 2002 at the University Of Bucharest, Romania. The graduation work paper was entitled "Environmental Degradation upon the Iron Gates Natural Park – in the area of Nera’s river mouth untill Svinita".  In 1999 I graduated “Dumitru Dumitrescu” Industrial High school, specialization informatics. During this training, I learned how to classify satellite imageries using ERDAS and ArcGIS 9.x and how to interpret them. WebGIS/webmapping Because webmapping is a direction that I am very interested in, I kept learning things and I have created a few interactive maps. And because I truly believe in the power of GIS, in maps and interactivity, I created the Project mapWizard, www.mapwizard.eu where I list all my projects and the technology I use. mapWizard uses only open source technology starting with data formats and ending with how we are serving the data. The most recent map is https://mapwizard.eu/location/index.html It shows the closest pubs, bars, cafes or retaurants that are closest to the location of the user. For this map I used CARTO, PostgreSQL queries, Turf.js to calculate distance between the user location and the shops. The most popular interactive map of the project is PlatFerma map http://platferma.ro/harta-fermelor-romania/ This map shows all the farms with natural food in Romania. It is constantly updated with new farms and new features. Another project that will be online by the end of this year is about some tracks for trail running: http://www.mapwizard.eu/ciucas_x3/split.html I have created two profiles one with the altitude and one with the slope. When the altitude button is clicked the track is colored based on the slope values and when the slope profile is clicked, the track is colored based on the altitude values. So one can make a really good impression about the difficulties of the track and where are the most challenging sectors of the track. Another project is about mountain bike tracks. For this one I created a version for mobile (not an app), depending on the screen resolution of the device that opens the map, it will be displayed the version for desktop or the version for mobile. There is still work to do, but at the begging of 2017 it will be on the web http://www.mapwizard.eu/trasee_bicicleta_PNBV/index.html Because the tracks were digitized, I had to extract the elevation form ASTER DEM. At the time only ASTER were offering DEMs at 30m resolution for Europe. The slope was then determined based on a formula in excel.
