This entailed preparing their accounts (either using the clients trial balance to create the Financial Statements or preparing a trial balance based on entering their invoices and bank statements into the accounting system), calculating their tax (Income Tax for sole traders and Corporation Tax for companies), filing the appropriate documentation with the Companies Registration Office, and performing audits. The accounting software used by Upton Ryan is Relate but I also have experience working with other packages as some of my clients would use a different one (Sage, TAS books, etc). I also used Microsoft Excel in preparing the accounts. I prepared bank reconciliations, PAYE reconciliations and VAT reconciliations. I was also responsible for preparing my timesheets every month. June 2010 – May 2014Walsh Jewellers, Mullingar Sales Assistant In this position, I was responsible for morning routine cleaning. This entailed cleaning all the glass, both inside the shop and outside of the shop. It also required polishing all the wooden furnishings. I was responsible for cleaning stock items on a regular basis and arranging window displays, as well as counter displays. This required being creative and the ability to best position stock so that it will become more appealing to the customers. I dealt with customers, serving them and answering any queries they may have. I also had a responsibility for administrative duties. Sept 2012Institute of Technology Tallaght, Dublin Student Leader I was in charge of greeting the new students to the college and directed them as to where they needed to go. I was responsible for giving them tours of the college and answering any queries they may have had. I helped out where needed when the IT workshops were being held. Jan 2009 – Feb 2009Motor Tax Office, Mullingar General Duties Assistant I worked in the Tax Office as part of the work experience module in the FETAC course. I was required to open all the post and to distribute each item to the right department. I was responsible for ensuring that if any of the post contained cheques, to right down the persons details on the back and to paper clip it to the document. I was also responsible for filing documents in a chronological order. The manager even asked me to use my skills to help with accounting and referencing bank statements. Oct 2008 – Jan 2009Marks and Spencer, Mullingar Sales Assistant I dealt with customers, served them and assisted them in their needs. I was responsible for handling cash and stock control. I had to ensure that stock was rotated regularly. June 2008 – Sept 2008Prince of Wales Hotel, Tasmania Waitress and Bar Staff I was in charge of showing customers to their table, distributing menus, taking their orders for food and drink, and then serving them their orders. I was responsible for routine stock control and ensure that all fridges were appropriately filled. I was given the opportunity to organise functions and ensuring that tables were all set up with the appropriate amount of seating. I had responsibility to ensure that hotel rooms were clean and tidy. I had control over hotel guests and answered any queries they may have had. Oct 2006 – April 2008Bloomfield Leisure Centre, Mullingar I was responsible for cleaning the pool, cleaning the gym and also, cleaning the changing rooms. I had to ensure that everywhere was left neat and tidy. I was in charge of minding the children that stayed in the hotel and minding the children that attended camps. I was also responsible for organising these camps and I had to plan out the events that would occur throughout. This required thorough thought and exceptional organisation skills. During the camps, I was in charge of serving the children their lunches. I was responsible for serving the members, making sure they had everything they required and answering any queries they may have had. I had control over new members wanting to join. I gave them a tour of the centre and advised them on what would be best suited for them. At the end of the day, I was in charge of doing cash up. That involved counting all the money and ensuring that the accounts balanced. Feb 2006 – Mar 2006BDM Chartered Accountants, Mullingar Work Experience I was in charge of sorting through post and distributing them to their proper locations. I was also in charge of filing documents. I was responsible for shopping for any supplies that were required in the office.
