Jose Thomas Mylackal

I come with about thirteen years of experience spanning various domains of epidemiological, public health and clinical research. My experience is drawn from the realms of research and scientific operations, academia and the corporate world.

My interest in human health was drawn from the Bachelors programme in Zoology and was furthered during the Masters programme in Health Sciences. In the quest for doing something different from the conventional herd, I took up public health research through one of its fundamental tools, Epidemiology.

My primary research interests are in the epidemiology of non-communicable diseases (cancers, diseases of the cardiovascular spectrum and strokes) and endocrine disorders.

Research helped channelise and diversify my forays into the field of Medical Writing/ Medical Communications, which involved abstraction and lucid interpretation of scientific information and re-packaging the same into scientific and medico-marketing communication materials aimed at clinicians, pharmaceutical field-force and patients.

My fundamental capabilities lie in Epidemiology (designing, budgeting, planning and supervising epidemiological studies, teaching Epidemiology & Research Methodology - Theory and Practicum courses to undergraduate/postgraduate students) and Medical Communications (development of medico-marketing communication materials and manuscript writing, including systematic reviews). I have excellent command over English. These are my strengths, my fortes.

I am on the lookout for suitable opportunities in these fields.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading books (novels, fiction, biographies, autobiographies), playing music (Indian classical) and listening to music (Hindi, English and Malayalam devotionals as well as English classics) and travelling. I am also inclined towards reading religious philosophy and theology. Down the line, I strongly intend to volunteer for social causes and divert some of my monies towards philanthropic endeavours.
