I'm a late bloomer actually. Although I always scored in the top tier percentile in the country for reading and writing, I never liked writing until college gave me the freedom to. My ability was recognized from the start, as i was one of few freshmen to be recruited by the Interdisciplinary Studies program at CUNY John Jay College of Criminal Justice due to my entrance score on the writing exam. The program was writing intensive and geared toward acclimating to future law school requirements as well as learning through multifaceted perspectives. Even then i was only good "instinctively" as my first English professor put it. Those instincts earned me the honor of being the the third freshman to be published in John Jay's Finest (An annual publication of a collection of the best papers written from all disciplines throughout the entire school). That accolade coupled with my grades led to my recommendation into the writing tutoring program at the school. It was then that i learned how to write on a professional level, and fell in love with writing and teaching. Since then i have been a CUNY ACT and CPE prep instructor, a writing tutor, published creatively and academically, have tutored hundreds of people, written hundreds of papers, and my skills have expanded to include grant writing, copy-writing, technical writing and more.
