Marika Lomadze

Hi. I am Marika/Maka from Tbilisi, Georgia. I have a major in English and a minor in Spanish. I've been tutoring for around 10 years now. I practice online tutoring too and it is as effective as my one-on-one lessons. I do believe that the world is open as ever today, therefore, it is a nice opportunity to have as many foreign students as possible, and the students can also choose any tutor from any country, of which we should be and are very grateful to the platforms like this. I also speak Russian and some French, so, I am a very valuable candidate. I have a very good methodology if needed. However, I will undertake your methodology with pleasure and with great interest. I love children and they love me too, so I will do my job with pleasure.

I have also been writing articles in English in local English-language newspapers as well as translating the Georgian ones into English. Therefore, reading, writing, thinking, and talking in English is no problem for me at all. I do practice a lot with native speakers too, which I think, is essential for self-development. I do listen a lot to podcasts and videos, to make sure I do not stagnate.  

I have worked for one of the news agencies, where I was an English translator and an editor of the news from all fields. I am also a freelance translator for the local translation agencies, including the technical, medical, economic, judiciary,y and what is very rare, literary translation, including films, short stories, and even verses.

As for my accent, I have to say without any exaggeration that we, Georgians, have no accent at all, meaning, we have rather a neutral accent. I.e. it is not as peculiar as that of Russians, French people, and Italians, I am sure, you understand what I mean here. I do not like to brag, but this is the fact that thanks to our neutral accent, we, Georgians, do learn languages quite easily. Here, I am talking about people who prefer humanities and have a flair for languages. Small nations need to speak languages too.

 I also include some tints of humor and want to prove after all that learning a language can be a pleasurable process and not torture. Moreover, at your age, it’s pleasure indeed. 

So, I have no objection to offering you my candidacy.
