E-mail:-Dear Cindy MacDonald,
My name is Mustaqeem Khan and I am applying for the position of VFM Senior Auditor at the
Office of the Auditor General of Ontario. I was ecstatic to find this opening on LinkedIn as I have
been actively pursuing an opportunity here because I feel that my previous work experience make
me a perfect fit for the role.
I have completed my Bcom at Ryerson University specializing in accounting. I have also
successfully completed the CFE in September 2018 after going through the complete CPA PEP
process. Throughout my studies, I have learned problem solving, analytical, self-management and
leadership skills that I am will be able to apply and build upon with the Auditor General
I have over 4 years of experience in public accounting with 3+ years of those being at a mid size
CPA firm, MNP LLP. I have gained tremendous experience working at MNP LLP. I started as an
Accounting Technician in February 2017. This gave me a very strong base in accounting
knowledge since I was responsible for all the accounting functions for many different types of
business that consisted of completing their day to day bookkeeping, year end entries, financial
statement preparation and the tax work for both the corporation and individuals. After exceeding
expectations as an Accounting Technician, I was promoted to a Staff Accountant in February
2018 where I was tasked on completing more complex review engagements and assisting on
audits. I was also able to strive in this position since I already had strong accounting knowledge
through my experience as an Accounting Technician. Therefore, I decided to transfer to the
Pubco department in downtown Toronto in September of 2019 to challenge myself so that I can
get exposure to IFRS. I was exposed to a wide variety of clients at this time working with many
real estate corporations, media companies and retail stores. I was then later promoted to a Senior
Accountant back with the Markham Enterprise group.
I feel that I am the perfect candidate for this role because my 4 years of accounting experience
specified above. I have 3 years of experience in public accounting as well as industry experience
that directly relates to the requirements for this role at Office of the Auditor General of Ontario,
I would be very content to discuss this position with you in further detail. If you feel that my
qualifications will be an asset, please give me a call at your earliest leisure at Thank you for your
time and consideration. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Regards,
Mustaqeem Khan
