In this project, various missile configurations were studied and their effect on aerodynamic coefficients was analyzed. At the initial stage, a base missile configuration was designed and then, changes in configurations of the base missile was made by changing aspect ratio, sweep, reference area, etc. Later, a base aircraft was designed as well and the study of morphing wing concept was carried out to an extent by focusing the future of aerospace industry. The study of various configurations were performed using rapid prototyping method and then validated using Computational Fluid Dynamics. There are many different wingtip device configurations in production inclusive of winglet, blended winglet, wing tip fence and raked wing tip. Each design has its own advantages with some providing the most benefit whilst in cruise while others help optimize take-off and climb performance. Where possible, the design chosen for the installation on a given aircraft will reflect the best option for the normal flight profile of the aircraft type. The aim was to witness the performance of wingtip devices and find out the better device. MAJOR Project (August 2018- May 2019) Project Title: INVESTIGATION OF MORPHING WING OF AN AIRCRAFT Description: In this project the concept of morphing was in the limelight and its scope in future aerospace was studied and analyzed. Morphing wing technology has always fascinated the brightest minds to widen the scope of innovation in modern aircraft. Modern aircrafts are capable of unmanned flights, stealth modes, etc. But a single aircraft cannot possess all the above characteristics together. In this project, the analysis of aerodynamic characteristics of two 2D aerofoil configurations were performed and investigated under the subsonic and supersonic conditions.
