Renee Walton

I was born and raised in a society that emphasizes on working hard to achieve ones’ goals in life. Being raised with this mindset has led me to grow and develop myself along the way while helping others in need or individuals who wished to be helped. I am very passionate and industrious when it comes on to giving others a helping hand. I love to see when others achieve their goals. 

I am a leader and most time considers myself to be creative and innovative. I have planned and conducted projects to assist others as well as to lead groups in activities by taking charge and allowing everyone to have an input in the planning of whichever task. As they always say, dream work makes the teamwork and I strongly believe that no one can survive without others giving a helping in hand. No man can be an island by himself. 

During my secondary level of education, I went to Youth Crime Watch of Jamaica (YCWJ) Saturday classes to get extra assistance with my English and Maths. During my time spent in the extra classes, I have learned allot because of the change of environment and the different learning styles which resulted in me doing great on my Caribbean Exams. After graduating high school, I started my journey of tertiary level education to pursue a Bachelor Degree in Business Education. In my first year, I started to volunteer at the same organization that gave me the exposure, opportunity and the wonderful young adults which spent their time to tutor and counsel us on our career path. I was really inspired by their effort and time spent with us each Saturday. 

While teaching can be seen boring to some, it is exciting to me to see the strong emotions on students faces when they found out new information and are very interactive and receptive to learning more. It doesn’t only allow the children to enjoy learning but to be artistic to themselves. I no longer teach only, I facilitate students when students seek information for themselves, they have more appreciation and understanding of the information. They now will be exposed to a lot such as problem-solving with deep concentration and will be able to tackle a question from any angle once they learn that information on their own. For me, education is not just to get a job but to be enthusiasm for learning new things and utilizing.
