Sofia Benitez

I was born and raised in Guatemala City, Guatemala and recently graduated from Universidad Francisco Marroquin with a BA in International Relations with a specialization in International Organizations. I consider myself a world citizen in love with other cultures and languages, trying to make this world a better place to live for the future generations. I am a firm believer of education, freedom and cultural awareness as the key to achieve a more peaceful society. Currently, I volunteer at The Better Tomorrow Movement developing content for the Americas through social media. My professional experience includes the private and public sector focused on international trade. I have been executive and communications assistant on several occasions so I have experience in both fields. As a young professional, I'm familiarized with technology and social media.

I have been involved in different volunteering activities from sustainable development to education; minorities rights, especially women and reproductive rights as well as empowering women in Guatemala. I was selected as a Guatemalan delegate for the International Student Festival in Trondheim (ISFiT 2017) where I, along with another 450 students from all over the world, addressed the topic of inequality through different points of view; I was part of the International Economic Development workshop. She is currently participating as a United Nations Online Volunteer and working with Sustainable Development Goals projects from around the world including the UK, India, Austria and Brazil.
