But to go for a vegetarian diet is an easy way to catch fitness for both your body and mind, as there is an inter-relationship between the two. A balanced vegetable dish can maintain the harmony by providing us with the positive energy, as it is in the field of electrical engineering. People opt for vegetarian dishes for various reasons like health benefits, humanitarian attitude towards animals, and finally for their taste that speaks up individually. There are various types of vegetarians, such as semi-vegetarians, those are habituated to avoid the intakes of animal products, but sometimes eat mutton, chicken, and dairy products. Sources of Nutrients and Benefits in case you become a vegetarian: From the vegetarian menu, you can have all the nutrients required for developing your physical and mental stability, like iron, protein, zinc, fat, calcium, iodine, vitamin A, vitamin B12, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E, and vitamin K. One can absorb iron from dark green leafy vegetables, beans, tofu, figs, and apricots. Besides carrying phytochemicals those fight against cancer, the sea-weeds contain a good amount of magnesium, calcium, iron, iodine, chromium, and vitamins. You can use them in salads, sandwiches, and soups. They will enrich the taste and double the nutritional value as well. The most interesting is that seaweeds are low in calories and free from fat but high in fiber, thus making you maintain a good distance from cardio-vascular disease. A healthy breakfast with cereals, nuts, soy foods, and legumes can make you start up a fresh day rich in activity and mental stability with the joint venture of zinc and proteins which help us form a strong immunity system to fight various ailments. By consuming broccoli, collard greens, tofu, soybeans, white beans, cereals, and orange juices, one can get rich in vitamin D and Calcium which are very important for the growth and development of our bones and teeth. Moreover, after a light body- massage with olive or coconut oil, if you stand a few minutes in the sunlight, you can have plenty of vitamin D, as it is best absorbed while being in oil, as of vitamin A. A typical non-vegetarian family or friends circle may not allow you to go for vegetarian dishes. But if you can make them understand that being a vegetarian, you can live healthy, they would certainly not make you stop, instead encourage your decision. Trust me! _ Fight Diabetes, live healthier Diabetes is a growing headache for most of the people in the world, especially for those suffering from cardio vascular disease. Actually, diabetes is not a disease in the exact sense of the term, but one of the physical ailments leading to various diseases, like cardiac problems, kidney damage, dental problems, poor eye sight, skin problems, and so on. When the glucose level in our blood increases, we catch diabetes. Symptoms of Diabetes: We can detect ourselves as diabetic in the following cases- A. If we are disturbed by various infections, including gums and vaginal, and the sores on our body take too much time to heal. B. If we feel too much hungry, thirsty, and exhausted. C. If we suffer from blurry vision and frequent urination. In this field, you may have irritation that urination is not clear. And often we take it as urinary track disorder, which is also treated as infection. D. When blood sugar level increases, you can suffer from various skin problems. Types and Risk Factors of Diabetes: Diabetes is categorized as under type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes. Consumption of vitamin D in lower quantity, heredity, sickness caused by viruses, and autoantibody can boost type 1 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes can also be transferred from parents to their kids. If you are addicted to smoking and alcohols, bid those a permanent ‘farewell’, instead get habituated to green tea, plain water, and lemon juices. These will keep the sugar level under control. Bitter gourd juice is the best to control blood sugar. Keep your diet afresh with at least a citrus fruit daily. Do avoid oily, spicy, and junk or fast foods, instead, if you are in a hurry, have natural fast food, that is, fruits, especially those taste sour. Use honey instead of sugar in your cup of tea, and avoid having tea with milk. You can start a fresh morning by having a cup of lukewarm water with lemon juice. You should avoid red meat and sugary drinks for experiencing a quick recovery; instead you can have fishes and boneless chicken. Boost your health by putting lots of vegetables and fruits in your daily diet but in a balanced form. Usage of canola, olive, sunflower, and rapeseed oils for cooking can keep you a hundred feet away from bad cholesterol; instead you will get rich in unsaturated fats, which are better than the saturated ones. Tablespoon oil is enough to cook. You may consult your dietician for diabetic friendly food and activity chart, and it will definitely increase your confidence level in getting rid of high quantity of sugar. Avoid dairy products, instead take soymilk and soybeans; those are equally rich in protein and calcium, but low in calories. Take brown rice instead of white polished rice. 5. Drink bitter gourd juice in every morning in empty stomach. This will not only reduce sugar level, but keep your entire system strong and fresh, especially eye sight and digestion. Those suffering from chronic constipation will benefit a lot from this preparation. 6. Avocados, capsicum, and curry leaves are also helpful for people suffering from diabetes. 7. Strengthen you mental stability, keep away from stress factors, and have sound sleep for at least seven to eight hours a day. It will keep you calm and quiet, thus maintaining a good distance from high blood pressure, which is a good nutrient to glucose. 8. Soak fenugreek seeds in water overnight; drink either water or seeds in empty stomach in the morning. The fiber will help you to lessen the sugar level. Try this for a few months. Write what you love. Motivation is very essential for performing any task, and so is for writing; passion plays the role of a motivator. And obviously it acts as the positive motivator. It makes one think as well as prone to execution. Writing is something that depicts your mind and brain. What we write is hidden behind our overall perspective- our attitude to our surroundings, our knowledge, the exploration of new ideas as well as their executions, and the most important one is how we react to them. And it’s a way you know writing makes one sharp by bringing in the possible changes in the development of one’s speeches and reading. That’s why parents are usually advised to form the writing habits of their children. The more you write, the more you switch to betterment of your knowledge and oracle skills. Moreover, writing much depends on concentration. You can get involved in great meditation while writing that can improve your memory and it has been psychologically proved. So, the way of writing is a craft. And ever so you go through your own text, so much you yourself can understand where and how much modification is required. When we express our thoughts and ideas into words, we require much more attention and care towards the situation, topics, characters, time, and space. And, obviously these are of vital importance. If you are a wordsmith, you should have to look to the standardization of your document instead of mere wording. “Dear Mom How are you? I’m just doing well. When will you come to me?” etc. etc. and does it sound perfect while writing to our Moms? I think it’s so formal, rather tasteless. Actually, brevity is a key factor while writing- whether it’s a letter, essay, poetry, fiction, or anything else. Most of us mumble while writing, especially drafting letters makes us move like Catherine wheels in search of proper words and introduction. We say much but write a few. And you may designate it as a psychological problem. But to be frank and clear, we want to avoid ourselves. Hence, the clearer perceptions evade from us. “Dear Mom, It’s now 8 a.m. and you must be in the kitchen, I assume, for preparing the breakfast. Sister Julie must be now sleeping as usual and Tom in the study room. But I feel so lonely here you know. I miss your vegetable noodles, those I used to have in my breakfast. I can’t still go for it, though I am trying hard. Please send me the ‘how to do’s in your next letter.” Above is an example of a personal letter that definitely sounds better than that of the earlier one. Usage of heavy words and idioms does not matter much, whereas, how you present and express yourself is a million dollars question. You should set your own goal while writing. If you possess a clearer way of expression, you will go smoother and fairer. In my childhood days, I used to listen to stories from my granny, who used to divert from one to another angle of the story. As a consequence, the listeners got confused, and the narration used to lose the deserved attention; it did not matter how much good the content was. One should stick to the main focus of one’s composition till the story reaches to its climax. You may arrange for some sub-plots but without distorting your main plot- whether in letters, essays, poems, or other compositions. You must have heard that literature mirrors the world. What happens in the society is reflected through literature. For example, if you are asked to set a few lines on what History is, how will you manage? Please do not try to look for others’ leaves; go for yourself and structure the answer. You know bookish knowledge can widen our opportunities but cannot explore ourselves till we look to our hidden potentialities, which are in wait for our exposure. Obviously, you can go through books and websites as well as consult experts for gathering information, and this is a must for developing your writing skill, especially for research based articles. But the outputs should be yours only. Let’s have an instance. If someone cooks for you and then puts the dish before you to eat, what will you do? Will you wait for somebody to feed you or stretch your own hands? Yes, it’s better to eat by ourselves. Then why not for writing? If we try and try the same thing for several times, success must kiss our feet one day, and it’s not a mere saying! New in writing? Don’t worry; get relaxed. Just choose your topics. We should remember we must select the categories we feel comfortable in. If you feel interested in writing on literature and history, just go for them. Many of us like to write on horrors and fantasies, while others on science fiction and personal essays. But whatever it may be, one should not lack in brevity and unity while writing; these add to the charm of your composition. You should be specific about yourself- your knowledge, views, ideas, thoughts, and descriptions- everything else that is helpful to bring your piece to the zenith as well as to draw a good range of readers. Readers are a very significant part for your composition, that is, you should focus on whom your writing targets and why; what their mind lacks in and what they demand for. No, no, no. Do not ever think that you’ve to write to your readers’ taste. Just go for yourself but try to maintain the psychological analysis- age, sex, class, educational standard, and mind set-up etc. as well as to set your piece thus. All the fingers on our hands do not go the same after all! One should go thus that the readers can see and hear the words. Wording is a kind of art to make things be visualized. We should arrange so that the readers are well-acquainted to the depiction. Communicate with them through your words, and they will feel and touch you. Apart from all of these, your knowledge of the language you are writing in is another important factor. One should be fully aware of the usage of grammar and vocabulary. Without proper spelling, wording, and punctuations, one cannot go ahead. If you are preparing for a travel story, you should study well the historical, cultural, natural significances of the place (if any) and write with your first-hand knowledge instead of second-hand information. Besides, photographs are very helpful to strengthen the weight of your story. But, please be sure that they are of your own, else, you might fall in copyright law, that can endanger your writing career, and this is equally important for your words too. One should not get involved in plagiarism. Copying others not only insults the owners but at the same time, spoils the artistic self within us. Following is better but copying is the worst. Rousseau once gave a call to ‘Return to Nature’, and now it’s time to plunge into ourselves and be creative, be an artist. Nothing is as satisfying as like that of creativity. If you are able to sow even a single seed and nurture it regularly, one day it will grow to a big tree and give fresh air for breathing. Then, you are definitely an artist. The ‘artistic self’ within yourself is the seed that requires proper nourishing and care, so that it can get polished up and give you the soothing symphony of creativity, that goes beyond time and space. On the whole, do not wait for anyone to read your piece and give opinion about it. Be the judge of yourself. Criticize your work; modify your work whenever you need and feel. Go rhythmic, go fair. Explore yourself. That’s all! _ 5 A.M. - A Journey towards the ‘survival of the fittest’ They say “necessity is the mother of invention”. And this is true to the letter for the biracial singer Sir Robert Bryson Hall II, stage-known as Logic. His surrounding paved the way to the necessity for exploring his ‘self’ to an artist. Do you remember the Pre-Raphaelite call for ‘Art for art’s sake’? Yes, Logic’s creativity hails this movement with much novelty, where art’s sake is to mirror the world. Born and brought up in a touchy environment of crimes, alcohols, and cocaine of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Logic of twenty six, the greatly devoted to hip-hop, has uttered the revolution in the era of modern music with his stunning lyrics- “I’ve seen a lot of shit I shouldn’t have but never forgot it though”, as his 5 A.M. video makes us pause and think for a while. He might have put up with so many contemptuous looks and approach. You know what is guilty of contempt of ours ensures that contempt itself lies within us. And whether you admit it does not matter much. We often look at others with our scornful attitude for their fault but never look to ourselves; we hardly judge ourselves. In fact, we lack in the ability to do so. But, when one does so by admitting the reality through self-analysis, he/she is really exceptional. And Logic goes so rhythmic with his reality, as he confesses “Police banging on the door” or “...but my daddy a negro/Half breed motherfucker grip the mic and heat flow...”- there is no hypocrisy. Reality goes on the zenith when the rapper speaks of himself as “I ain’t in a fairy tale, I am just me, ho!” These utterances are deep-delved into one’s psychology. Evidently, there is logic within Logic! This fair-flow is a unique trend of the time being, when each and everyone is masked. And I can relate it to one of my pieces ‘I am not masked’, where the following words were penned: Dust dares not cover my face, as my soul and words work together not to flatter you, but make you flutter with what you think and feel for rapture that would make you filled with rupture, and your heart would go on clatter, but you would find no feather to pen your next creature! Better you go for option another that can nurture your filthier nature, that innocence can get ready for slaughter and prove you to be the matchless butcher, who can find out golden rays from cluster and cut those to paint darker, even the darkest fears thy stauncher, as it might bring in the calamity that would hardly be visible in nature, but that would bother you never, as you stick to the more venomous creature- venoms reign in your eyes and smiles, those breed to air fragile, for you deny truth in daylight and charm your followers with pretending delight, that you can make more with your shadowy stature! _ Just think of a person who, in his childhood, has experienced much that should not have been occurred. Please don’t pronounce “oops”, instead, just feel the crisis. Don’t pity him, instead, identify yourself with the very situation, else, you would not have the exact sensation of his composition. Our society decrees, “Dash the head of the unfortunate to the clod”, or to be treated as faced by Logic himself, “they want me to bleed slow”, as he proceeds with the daring steps in order to go against this age-old tradition. Personally, I feel it because I also faced and still am facing many problems as I belong to the female, often considered as the ‘weaker sex’, thus leading to partiality. I am cut to the quick to the great extent when women are tortured and humiliated by women. Those attempting to break the flow are treated maliciously, and you may perceive it in my poem ‘In Time of Breaking of the Flow’: They got ready to take her under custody, for she was not willing to blindly serve the riddles of the world. She debated that he should equally contribute as well as should not evade for he has a larger community; she should not become the only object of pity, for she is ‘she’. She has committed neither of the crimes; her fault is only to go beyond the flow, that has long been nourished with dominating spirit, tending to treat her thus- “Thou must succumb, else let thy goals run in vain”- but she never loses her nerve. She raises her voice against every unjust and unfair; she goes anti-clock and utters- “You spring from me and dare threat the womb thus; my blood enriches you, and you encourage the slaughter thus; I fed you as your mother, gave affection as your sister, and loved you as your better-half, but what did you do to me? You are eager to cut down the branch, which once sheltered you; you dare sucking blood like the pelicans.” She roared and roared; the earth seemed to bifurcate with her wails and groans; nature seemed weeping, when she wished, “Let no woman bear woman; let men come of every birth. I would be happier to see there would be none to nurture nature- You would no more be able to have rapture from our in-depth trouble. There would be none to feed and cook for you; You would no more be able to gratify your devilish desire, None would love and shelter you in your distress. You would only hover here and there in thirst and hunger, But none would come up to quench the thirst of your heart, leading you to come to the verge of ruin, because men can never give birth! So the world would now be a no man’s land. And just imagine the world without us!” _ Logic has gone a challenging mode which makes the audience call to mind the theme of ‘individual vs. society’ of the European Literature, as occurs in ‘The Trial’ by Franz Kafka, ‘The Outsider’ by Albert Camus, or ‘The Doll’s House’ by Henrique Ibsen. “In the struggle between yourself and the world, second the world.” These motivating words by Mr. Kafka rightly describe Logic, who has established himself despite all his drawback- his family background, societal corruption, his smoking addiction, and so on. He dominates with his iron determination that makes his journey towards the ‘survival of the fittest’, as having a eureka by Charles Darwin. So, his ‘5 A.M.’ is not a mere combination of lyrics and music, but the panacea for those suffering from depression and negativity for not having the sweet smile of Lady Luck. Man is known for his work, not for his birth. Through ‘5 A.M.’, Logic has created the atmosphere of inspiring others with ‘Live and let live’. It gives a call to creativity, which is the essence of life. If we click to creativity, we would overcome all the pessimism that once choked our voice and prevented us from breathing in the open air. On the whole, do not evade, instead, face the riddles. Prove yourself a lighthouse before their nose who once tried their best to make you stop with their frowning eyes. To conclude with Mr. Kafka, “You do not need to leave your room. Remain sitting at your table and listen. Do not even listen, simply wait, be quiet, still, and solitary. The world will freely offer itself to you to be unmasked, it has no choice, and it will roll in ecstasy at your feet.” Keep the spirit up! # The term Ecology: The early conception of the term ‘ecology’ may be ascribed to Herodotus who stressed upon the balance and regulation in nature. The birthplace of the term ‘Ecology’ remains in the hands of Ernst Haeckel who was born in 1834, and died in 1919. The German scientist Ernst Haeckel brought the term ‘Ecology’ into use in his book ‘Generelle Morphologie der Organismen’ in 1866, though Eugeniusz Warming is also credited for the foundation of the very word. ‘Ecology’ is a Greek word, meaning ‘store house’.
