For this project, I visited different public sector schools of Hyderabad in order to highlight the ways in which the knowledge to be discussed in classrooms is decided by the dominant culture of the state. In the study I analyzed classroom practices and textbooks used in such classrooms to show how people in power can decide what the students should learn and what they should never know. The paper also analyses how critical pedagogy can make the educators intellectuals and critical thinkers so transformations can be brought in the classroom systems.
