Vasco Barreto

I have a Ph.D. in Immunology, I run a research group and I teach Oncobiology and Basic Biology at one of the top Medical Schools in Portugal. I've published more than 20 peer-reviewed articles, including some as first or senior author in top journals.

I have been a peer reviewer for Nature Methods, The Journal of Experimental Medicine, and Plos One. I've also written over 100 columns for the Portuguese press and I've translated an English science book. I did my Ph.D. at the Pasteur Institute, in Paris (France), and then I worked at the Rockefeller University (New York, US) for over 6 years.

I plan to keep working as a principal investigator but in 2013 I started collaborating as a freelancer with American Journal Experts Cactus, Cambridge Proofreading LTD, Compuscript and EAP Medical Translations. Since then, I’ve edited over 160 manuscripts (563K words), including medical manuscripts and documents for the Pharma industry, and I’ve translated 19 manuscripts from Brazilian Portuguese or Spanish (85K words), but I would like to increase my workload.

I'm shifting from being a translator to becoming a research consultant and a medical writer. My goal is to work remotely on a part-time basis. Sincerely, Vasco Barreto
