Songwriting Coursera Mooc

I included this class because I learned a lot of new creative writing techniques from it that I apply on Copywriting. Some of it includes Rhyming, Prosody, how to choose and write words that evoke emotions. All of these are a huge help in Digital Marketing.

Freelance Ghostwriting

I was hired as a ghostwriter and content writer by a freelance manager who has different clients (website owners) around the world. I was able to write over 250 articles for the clients. The topics I wrote for were not necessarily in my field of interest, but I was able to research about them and write fruitful articles for our clients. Among the topics were Poker, Timesharing, and Computer Software.

Learning How to Learn Coursera Mooc

This class was taught by Dr. Barbara Oakley and Dr. Terrence Sejnowski. It's both a practical and theoretical course. I learned more about how our brains worked and how we can tweak our brains to become more productive. In the practical section, I was able to apply the tricks they taught us on how to manage our time more (productivity) and to be able to remember all that we have studied and move those learnings in our long-term memory.

Startup Weekend

In 2012, I attended the first ever Startup Weekend event in my city, Davao City, Philippines, as a non-technical participant. The event, sponsored by Google, was a gateway for future Digital enthusiasts to showcase their skills and ideas for the betterment of our world--thriving in the digital sphere. There were around 40-50 participants that were divided into groups. The winning startup got to compete in the semi-finals that was held in Manila, Philippines.

For the entire weekend, me and my groupmates worked on an idea of a startup including the business/marketing proposal, unique selling proposition, marketing strategies, and the website prototype. On the last day, we submitted the prototype of our study and production, and pitched our startup to the event's judges and potential investors, for a very limited time.

Our group didn't win, but it was one of the best learning experiences I ever had in my digital career. I learned how to work with a team, pitch-in and brainstorm ideas for the startup's success, and make a prototype out of it, despite the time pressure.

Guerilla Filmmaking 4

In 2008, I attended the Guerilla Filmmaking Workshop. it was a fast-paced workshop; we attended different classes on the stages of Filmmaking (scriptwriting, acting, production, etc.) for 3 weekends, while applying the different stages to the development of our final project: our own indie film. We were supposed to be 6 in the group, but the 4 other people were already a group and they already had their own plans, so me and my partner were both left to make our film. It was a rollercoaster for us, but in the awards night, the Father of Philippine indie cinema, Kidlat Tahimik, awarded our film the "Bamboo Award". He said that he gives this award to the filmmakers that are honest, simple, but have great potential. He said that our film has a heart.
