About

Hello everyone,

Good day.

My name is Angelo but, people around the office and my family call me "Gelo".

I worked in the BPO industry for 5 years as a customer service representative. I was known for my strong communication skills, which I was trained for to make sure that I deliver the best service and highest satisfaction for customers/clients.

Within my 5 years of job experience, I have been into 4 different companies.

My first company was StarTek Philippines. Here, I worked as a technical support representative and an order support representative for 2 years in one of the telecommunication companies in the United States. During my work stay in StarTek, I started learning foreign languages like French and Spanish from their respective cultural schools: Alliance Française de Manille and Instituto Cervantes de Manila. I believed that to be capable of expressing your thoughts into another language aside from English would not only be a great asset job wise but also an advantage of meeting new friends.

After StarTek, I started working in the mortgage sector as a Spanish-speaking representative. I was responsible of taking payments and of doing customer service to the Latin-American immigrants in the United States. It was my first chance working as a bilingual and it was a very humbling experience. I got the chance to know the cultural context of the immigrants and their current struggles. I developed further my communication skills with this experience.

After a year in the home loan industry, I moved in to an international shipping company as a representative for customer service and logistics. I worked mostly on cargo import in Central America (Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras). Through this experience, I got a chance to have workmates from Spanish-speaking countries where I broadened my knowledge to the Spanish language, most especially on each country's colloquial terminologies and backgrounds. Also, during my stay there, I went to several seminars for Human Resources and Lean Six Sigma (Yellow Belt).

After that, I went into an international health insurance company and became a Member Services Coordinator for yet again, another startup. Most of my clients were international school teachers and exchange students. This is the most recent one prior to my current post. It was in this business wherein I became aware of how things work in the medical field. I had the opportunity to delve into medical terms through a clinical review for pre-authorization and on how to deal with the medical representatives of each hospital from different countries for direct billing purposes.

Currently, I'm a Compensation Analyst and Researcher for a US-based company in Manila. This time, I am working in the human resources sector which is totally different from the BPO industry. I have just started working but, I am still keen to know what's out there. I would be open to explore and to venture out if there's a really good opportunity that may come up.
