For most of my IT working life I have been an Oracle product evangelist, as a technical consultant/manager for Oracle in their Oracle Retail Consulting group for 8 years and as a contractor on Oracle Retail/Retek implementation projects at large retailers. Clients include large retailers in the United Kingdom, Europe, Africa, Australia, Asia and the Middle East.

I have also been working on setting up services in the Cloud and cross-skilling into this area, particularly IaaS. I have worked on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), am a Oracle Autonomous Database Cloud Certified Specialist, have completed Amazon (AWS) and Google basic cloud training so I believe I have a good grasp of these technologies and the benefits they bring.

I have been working on PCs since 1984 assembling hardware, setting up systems and doing general support on Windows, Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Google Workspace/GSuite, etc. I do volunteer charity work maintaining systems for a local charity.

I am mostly self-taught, very hands-on and like to have a comprehensive ‘big picture’ architecture view of the project scope and how it fits into the enterprise and am constantly trying to improve and optimise the architecture. I enjoy environments where I can make a positive contribution to a team and deliver working systems that fulfil their business purpose. I enjoy people and becoming part of a great team environment is very important to me. Even at my age I do not know everything and enjoy researching and learning new skills.
