Who am I?
Notable Skills
A self-taught full stack software engineer capable of
building, deploying, and managing any software project end
to end. I am experienced in building software using both
legacy and modern tech, I’ve worked on and deployed
everything from PHP drupal projects to Golang
microservices.
I am very capable of leading project from both a human and
technical perspective. In my 3 years of professional
experience, I have worked on many different teams
executing a wide variety of tasks, both as a leader and not.
Some of my most notable work would be my time at rubix.io,
where I was solely responsible for managing production and
building out a CI pipeline. When I joined the project, their
production deployment was nothing more than a bunch of
ec2 instances on AWS, with no pipeline. When I exited the
project, I had moved them over to GCP and deployed their
api to a highly scalable kubernetes cluster on GKE easily
capable of handling tens of thousands of concurrent users. I
also built out full testing and staging environments that
were completely automated via a Gitlab CI pipeline.
I have also done quite a bit of teaching and mentoring in my
career, mostly either running workshops teaching
debugging strategies, or doing 1-on-1 mentoring for
software development. My workshop attendance was often
very high, with all seats usually being full.
Experience
Installer
Bold Commerce - July 2017 - July 2018
* Building, and
maintaining highly
scalable systems on a
variety of cloud service
providers using
kubernetes/docker.
* Working with
decentralized
applications and
interfacing with
blockchain networks.
* Ensuring safe
deployment of new
revisions by embracing
TDD/BDD and
educating my peers on
its benefits.
* Teaching software
engineering concepts
at any level.
As an installer at Bold, my job was to integrate our frontend
scripts with various Shopify themes. This would sometimes
prove to be a complex task when the theme was custom built
* Being open to new
or when multiple other 3rd parties are already integrated.
ideas and software
The technical stack for this job was fairly simple
development
HTML/CSS/JS with heavy use of Chrome developer tools for
philosophies, my mind
debugging.
Frontend Developer
Bold Commerce - July 2018 - Present
can always be changed
if a compelling
argument can be made.
As a frontend developer at Bold, my job was very similar to
that of an installer, except I was responsible for solving only
highly complex frontend issues that were internally
escalated to my team from the various other teams as issues
were reported to us by clients.
DevOps Engineer
Rubix Exchange March 2019 - November 2019
My responsibilities at Rubix as their sole SRE was to
maintain the production environment, build out a pipeline,
and ensure overall stability of all environments in a fast
paced development cycle. Since it was a small company, I
also helped out other teams when needed, which required
me to learn as I went. I feel that this is a very good example
of my ability to learn anything quickly, as I went from not
understanding Bitcoin/Cryptocurrencies to writing code to
abstract away the complexities of interfacing with the
various blockchain networks in a couple of days.
* I can learn anything,
so therefore I can build
anything.
